WhatsApp continues to work on features that enhance user experience. The platform has recently started testing a very useful feature for group chats. So, what exactly will this feature do? Here are the details!
You Will Be Able to Set Your Role in WhatsApp Group Chats
WhatsApp is testing a new feature aimed at minimizing confusion in group chats and allowing users to assign roles. This functionality, found in WhatsApp beta version 2.25.4.3 for Android, will let you assign a label or role to yourself in groups.

For example, let’s say you’re the class president and you have a WhatsApp group with your classmates. With the new feature being tested, you’ll be able to assign a special role to yourself, such as “class president.” This role will only be visible within your group and won’t appear in other chats. Additionally, only current group members and those who may join in the future will be able to see your role.
Of course, this is just an example. The new feature will allow you to assign your role however you like. This feature is expected to be particularly useful in large groups, such as university groups, where not everyone knows each other well.
The feature is currently being tested with a limited number of users. If all goes as planned, it could be rolled out to the general public in the future. However, it’s worth mentioning that not every feature tested will necessarily be made available.
What do you think about this? How do you feel about WhatsApp’s new feature being tested, and when do you think it could be released? Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments section!
