Details about Apple’s upcoming smart home display, a device it has reportedly been working on for some time, are becoming clearer. Set to launch in March 2025, this device resembles an iPad in design but has features that make your home smarter.
What will Apple’s new smart home display offer?
The product’s official name is still unknown, but according to leaks from sources like Mark Gurman, it will feature an iPad-like design with a thick-bezel 6-inch screen, built-in camera, rechargeable battery, and speakers. There is also substantial work being done to integrate Siri and Apple Intelligence voice support.
The new smart home display is expected to come with various stands, allowing users to mount it on walls or place it on countertops. However, there’s an important detail to consider—it reportedly requires an iPhone for initial setup.
The device will function similarly to the Amazon Echo Hub, enabling you to control home devices and participate in video calls. Additionally, it will allow control of HomeKit-compatible lights, security cameras, sensors, thermostats, and more.
It is said to run on an operating system that combines aspects of StandBy mode from the Apple Watch and iPhone. The device will be available in silver and black, and Apple is reportedly working on a more expensive version with a robotic arm.
