Preparations have begun for a new Rambo film. The film, designed to reboot the franchise, is designed as an origin story featuring a young actor portraying John Rambo. Set during the Vietnam War, the film focuses on the character’s first encounter with war.
A new Rambo film is on the way
Millennium Media, the production company responsible for the film, has signed Noah Centineo to play John Rambo. Centineo, who previously starred in Netflix’s The Recruit series, has also appeared in films such as Black Adam and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.

The new Rambo film will be directed by Finnish director Jalmari Helander, known for his 2022 film Sisu. Helander, known for his action film Sisu, is expected to employ a similar narrative style and graphic approach to violence in this new project. The film is set during the Vietnam War.
This historical context will explore the origins of the Rambo character and how he was shaped by his wartime experiences. However, details of the script have not yet been released.
Work on the project is ongoing, and preparations are underway to pitch the film to Hollywood studios. Lionsgate is reportedly showing particular interest in the project, but no official agreement has been made with any studios so far. Filming is scheduled to begin in early 2026. The production schedule has already been established.
The release date for the new Rambo film has not yet been announced. Details regarding the production process are expected to be finalized in the coming months.
