Apple announced an exciting update mid-month: the release of the HomePod mini in a new “Midnight” color. This new option will replace the existing Space Gray color. The mini version will be available for just $99.
HomePod mini surprises with a new Midnight color
Apple has introduced the new Midnight color for the HomePod mini, replacing the classic Space Gray. Although the two colors look quite similar, the new shade has a darker blue tone. When the HomePod was first launched, it was available in only two color options. Later, more colors were added.
The mini speaker continues to be sold in Yellow, Blue, Orange, and White tones. It seems Apple aims to maintain consistency in the HomePod series by offering both the full-sized second-generation HomePod and the mini version in the Midnight color.
Despite the HomePod mini being launched in November 2020, it hasn’t received any follow-up updates since. The newly added color will offer a fresh start, and more updates for the smart speaker are expected. The new color option matches well with the Space Black color option of the new MacBook Pro models.
The HomePod mini in the new Midnight color is available for order on Apple.com. Additionally, you can purchase the smart speaker from Apple Stores in over 28 countries, including the USA, Canada, and China, starting from July 17.
Apple is expected to release the new iPhone 16 series in the coming months. This announcement seems to cover many details about the new devices, which could explain why the company announced the new color option early.
