Minecraft, one of the world’s most popular games, continues to offer players with exciting experiences that push the boundaries. We’re often accustomed to Doom being run on devices not designed for gaming, such as cameras or medical scanners. However, this challenge stands out by using a completely physical method instead of a digital screen. A content creator named “smillgames” created an extraordinary experience by trying to play the game using only screenshots from a printer, without using a monitor.
Using a Printer Instead of a Monitor: An Impossible Challenge in Minecraft
In the video, the player is shown relying on low-quality paper printouts to keep up with the current situation. While the game normally flows smoothly, this method relies on the speed at which the printer prints each sheet. This means the player is forced to wait seconds for a new image to appear on the printer while controlling their character. This creates significant lag and disconnection, making the game nearly impossible to play.

The challenges of this method aren’t limited to speed. Because the quality of the printed images is so low, distinguishing details in the game becomes a significant problem. For example, a sheep standing in front of the player in one frame might suddenly appear to vanish in the next printout. Worse yet, Minecraft’s user interface and inventory screen appear as an incomprehensible black box on paper, completely obstructing item management.
While the creator hasn’t yet released the full experience, the available footage demonstrates just how challenging the game has become. Even simple walking is disorienting, and surviving a Creeper attack or battling an Ender Dragon seems like a pipe dream. Along with players’ records of surviving thousands of days in Hardcore mode, experimenting with such technological limitations showcases the community’s creativity.
What do you think of this interesting gaming experience? Would you try such crazy ways to play games with your home tech? We welcome your comments.
