While Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 series appears poised to retain many features from the S25 series, charging speeds may be an exception. A previous leak hinted at faster wireless charging across all models, but new information now suggests a significant improvement in wired charging. This suggests the anticipated Ultra Fast Charging support is finally coming to the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Galaxy S26 Ultra could boost charging power to 60W
According to a new leak from X-user TheGalox, the standard Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus models will retain last year’s wired charging speeds. This translates to 25W for the smaller model and 45W for the Plus model. However, a major change is expected for the Ultra model. The Galaxy S26 Ultra could significantly increase charging support from the S25 Ultra’s 45W to 60W.

While wired charging remains uncertain, wireless charging speeds are at least showing a standard increase across the series. The S26 and S26 Plus will see wireless charging speeds increased from 15W to 20W. The Ultra model is also expected to reach 25W wireless charging speeds with a compatible charger. These increases represent a significant leap forward from the S25 series’ slow 15W wireless charging limit.
While the arrival of 60W charging on the S26 Ultra is a significant step forward, 25W wired charging speeds on a flagship phone in 2026 are still quite outdated. While rivals like OnePlus are pushing 100W+ and include a charging adapter in the box, Samsung’s omission of a charger in the box further complicates this point. This latest leak suggests that Samsung is testing thermal management and cost-effectiveness in the next generation.
The Galaxy S26 is rumored to feature a slightly larger 4,300mAh battery, compared to the 4,000mAh in the S25. A test screenshot shared by GSMArena shows that last year’s Galaxy S25 fully charged a full minute before the iPhone 17, which has a similar capacity (3,988 mAh) and supports 35W charging. This suggests that Samsung has done a good job with optimization, but it lags behind its competitors in terms of speed.
