Apple’s new flagship processor did not surprise competitors in the smartphone industry and topped the SoC (System on Chip) rankings. Especially in terms of performance, the A18 Pro surpassed powerful chips such as Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and MediaTek Dimensity 9300. So what makes this processor so special?
iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max processor A18 Pro tops CPU performance
First of all, according to Geekerwan’s analysis, the CPU performance of the A18 Pro is quite impressive. In SPEC 2017 tests, it’s 42-52% faster than the Cortex-X4 performance core used in Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. But what’s really remarkable is that it delivers this high performance with only 8% more energy consumption. So it’s both fast and energy efficient.
But of course, not everything is limited to the CPU. The A18 Pro is a bit behind in terms of GPU performance. So, even though it’s not on par with its competitors in terms of graphics, it’s far ahead in overall performance evaluations. The A18 Pro ranked first with 280.9 points, followed by Dimensity 9300 with 279.3 points and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with 268.2 points.
However, this superiority may not last forever. Because Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoCs are expected to be released very soon. Strong new competitors may threaten this leadership of Apple’s processor.
But for now, Apple is on top in terms of performance, offering its users the best in speed, efficiency and power. Do you think new competitors will overtake the A18 Pro? Let us know in the comments below.
