Following TikTok’s decision to suspend its services in the US, CapCut (the international version of Jianying), another popular app owned by ByteDance, announced that it has temporarily ceased its operations in the US. The video editing app, which is also very popular in Turkey, confirmed that it was affected by the ban in a notice sent to its users. Details in our news…
After TikTok stopped its service in the US, CapCut was also closed for use
In the statement made by CapCut, the following statements were made: “We regret to inform you that a law banning the use of CapCut in the US went into effect on January 19th. Therefore, we will temporarily be unable to provide services. We are continuing our efforts to restore our services in the US. Thank you for your support.”

TikTok sent a notification to US users on the evening of January 18, announcing that it would stop its services as of January 19 due to the ban. The decision taken by the US government directly affected ByteDance’s apps, leading to the outage of the popular video editing app CapCut.
ByteDance states that it is looking for alternative ways to minimize the effects of this ban in the US. While efforts are underway to reopen TikTok and CapCut, the impact of these bans on users and content producers is a matter of great curiosity.
