One of the biggest barriers between operating systems in the smartphone world is becoming a thing of the past. Qualcomm has officially confirmed that Quick Share, Android’s most popular file-sharing method, will soon be able to communicate directly with iPhones on Snapdragon-powered devices. This development aims to eliminate the file transfer problem between the Android and iOS ecosystems.
Snapdragon devices can send files to iPhones with Quick Share
Google recently announced that Android’s Quick Share system will be compatible with iOS’s AirDrop technology for the Pixel 10 smartphones. Immediately following this announcement, Qualcomm shared an exciting detail in a post on the X platform. The company stated that this cross-platform file-sharing feature will be available not only with Google’s own processors but also with devices powered by Snapdragon chips.

This announcement ensures that the new compatibility will not be limited to Pixel models. This means that owners of phones from many different brands using Snapdragon processors, such as the Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, or Nothing, will be able to seamlessly share files with iPhone users. Qualcomm stated that it eagerly awaits the feature’s activation “in the near future,” but hasn’t yet provided a specific date.
The company hasn’t yet clarified which phone models will receive this support, but the technology appears quite broad. This bridge between Quick Share and AirDrop is likely to come not only to phones but also to tablets and laptops. This move, which follows Apple’s RCS support with iOS 18, will make communication between the two major platforms easier than ever.
For years, Android and iPhone users have needed third-party apps to send high-quality photos or documents to each other. What are your thoughts on this new integration? Do you frequently transfer files between the two operating systems in your daily life?
