Amazon has launched a new AI-powered feature on its shopping app. The company is starting to provide customers with product information via audio with the “Hear the highlights” button it has added to certain product pages.

The new feature works in integration with Amazon’s system called “AI shopping experts.” Company manager Rajiv Mehta described this service as “like having helpful friends with you while shopping.” Mehta said that users will now be able to make shopping decisions much more easily thanks to the new feature.

When users enter a product page on the Amazon app, they can listen to a short audio summary created by AI by tapping the “Hear the highlights” button. For example, on a coffee machine page, the user is told the most basic advantages of the product and the points highlighted by other people.
Amazon is developing this new audio summary system using large language models. Artificial intelligence creates short but informative audio scenarios by compiling information on the internet. We can say that the company’s main goal is to make product research faster and more accessible for users.
The audio summary feature is currently only available on select products and to a limited number of users in the US. Amazon plans to roll out the feature to more product pages and a wider audience in the coming months.
