AMD reported $7.7 billion in revenue in the second quarter of 2025, achieving its highest quarterly revenue in its history. This performance was driven by strong demand for next-generation RDNA 4 architecture-based Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards, Ryzen processors, and custom chips developed for game consoles.
AMD reported record second-quarter revenue
The company’s Client & Gaming division grew by 69% compared to the same period last year. Operating profit for the segment increased from $166 million to $767 million. AMD attributed this increase to the growing demand for Ryzen processors and the market appeal of the Radeon RX 9000 series, developed with the RDNA 4 architecture. The Radeon RX 9000 series was prominent among desktop users and directly contributed to the segment’s revenue growth.

The game console segment also saw growth. In addition to custom chips developed for PlayStation and Xbox, the company contributed to the segment’s revenue with new chips for handheld consoles and mobile PC systems.
These specially designed products are expected to be a driving force in future growth. The company also lists the Radeon AI PRO R9700 GPU, Copilot+ mobile workstations, and next-generation Ryzen Threadripper processors among its strategically important products.
However, despite this record-breaking quarterly performance, AMD also faced some limiting factors. Its Instinct MI300 series AI accelerators, developed for data centers, created an additional $134 million in inventory and cost burden due to US export restrictions.
This negatively impacted overall operating profit. However, strong results in the consumer segment enabled AMD to close the quarter at a record high in revenue.
