AMD has made an unexpected change to its production roadmap for the B650 chipset, extending support for the series. Previously announced to be completely phased out by the end of 2025, the B650 series will remain on the market for a while longer due to the current DRAM crisis. This decision aims to keep demand alive for entry-level systems.
B650 Series Support Extended
According to information from Board Channels, AMD has informed motherboard manufacturers that it will continue supplying B650 chipsets. The company shared that the B650 and B850 chipsets will be positioned together for a certain period.

Previous plans were to stop B650 production in the third quarter and completely clear stocks before the end of the year. However, the rise in DDR5 memory prices has reduced demand, especially for entry-level computer systems. This has led AMD to update its previous plans.
The report states that motherboard sales in November fell significantly compared to the previous year, and a similar trend is expected in December. Manufacturers are turning to more affordable solutions during this period of increasing cost pressures. This trend has led to a renewed increase in B650 orders in the market.
Major motherboard brands are preparing to increase their B650 production capacity or reactivate production lines that they had previously halted in order to meet this demand. The main goal of this move is to offer a lower total system cost compared to the B850 platform. Thus, by providing more accessible options with the AM5 socket for consumers affected by high memory prices, they are trying to prevent the market from stagnating.
