AMD is once again proving its overwhelming dominance in the processor market with global retail sales data. The company achieved a major record on Amazon’s list of best-selling processors, occupying 19 of the top 20 spots and leaving virtually no room for its rival Intel.
AMD at the Top of the Processor Sector
The top 14 spots on the list are all occupied by AMD models, with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, known for its gaming performance, leading the way. Priced at $469, this processor is followed by the long-popular Ryzen 7 7800X3D. AMD’s success isn’t limited to current architectures; even veteran models with Zen 3 and Zen 2 architectures continue to hold top positions on sales lists.

The picture looks quite bleak for Intel. The only Intel processor to make it into Amazon’s top 20 list was the Core i9-14900K. The failure of the company’s new generation Arrow Lake processors to create the expected impact and their performance lagging behind older models in benchmark tests has led users to shift their preferences to rival brands.
AMD’s rise isn’t limited to Amazon; in Steam user surveys, the company’s market share increased from 33.8% to 42.6% in a year. The current growth rate suggests AMD could surpass Intel in total user numbers for the first time in its history next year.
A similar scenario is unfolding in the European market. According to data from Mindfactory, one of Germany’s largest technology retailers, AMD sells 2,260 processors weekly, while Intel only manages to sell 220 during the same period. This gives AMD a massive 90% share of total revenue.
Furthermore, interesting developments are occurring in the second-hand market; Older AM4 platform Ryzen 7 5800X3D models, which offer DDR4 memory support, are fetching even higher prices than newer generation processors on platforms like eBay, thanks to gamers who want to avoid the high cost of DDR5.
