, has raised expectations with the Strix Halo series, which it is preparing to introduce at the CES 2025 event. The new Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 395 APU has shown impressive results in benchmark tests. With performance comparable to NVIDIA’s RTX 4060 Laptop GPU in early tests, Strix Halo will be a powerful option for both mobile gaming and graphics-intensive applications. Here are the test results and specifications…
Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 395 APU flagship of AMD Strix Halo series scores 67,004 in benchmark test
First of all, the new APU is equipped with a CPU with 16 cores and 32 threads. The processor runs at a base speed of 3 GHz and maxes out at 5.1 GHz. On the graphics side, there is a Radeon 8060S GPU with RDNA 3.5 architecture. The new graphics processor scored 67,000 points in the Vulkan API test, a level of performance not expected from an integrated GPU for compact devices.
The score is very close to NVIDIA’s RTX 4060 Laptop GPU. Considering that the platform on which Strix Halo’s performance was tested is still in development and the results were taken from an unoptimized device, we expect the final product to deliver higher scores.
However, apart from performance, AMD’s new APU is also notable for its energy efficiency and compact design for portable devices. These features make Strix Halo an ideal choice for devices such as laptops, tablets and mini PCs. The next-generation APU has the potential to reduce the use of standalone GPUs in laptops for gamers and graphics-intensive tasks.
So this could strike a balance between lowering energy consumption and increasing performance in portable devices. With the release of the final product, it will be clearer how competitive the new APU really is with NVIDIA and other competitors.
