AMD included Counter-Strike 2 in a latency feature for its graphics cards. However, the game’s Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) cheat protection misunderstood the feature and many players were banned from CS2. Following this, AMD Anti Lag+ was disabled with the latest update.
AMD disabled Anti Lag+ feature
AMD has released the Radeon Software Adrenalin 23.10.2 Beta driver that offers optimization for games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Forza Motorsport. However, the driver update disabled the Anti-Lag+ feature due to reports of players being banned from some titles such as CS2.
AMD’s Anti-Lag+ support is a technology that aims to reduce lag in games. However, the company said that a large number of gamers using the feature were experiencing unexpected bans. It said it was likely that the lag reductions were perceived as a form of cheating.
“To fix the issue, we’ve released AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.10.2. This version disables Anti-Lag+ in all games, so we recommend that players install the new driver.”
The hardware giant is working with developers like Valve to resolve compatibility issues and demonstrate that the Anti-Lag+ feature is not anti-cheat. AMD is also pledging support for CS2 players who have been banned due to the feature.
For now, players will have to continue without AMD’s lag optimization. However, the company has stated that it will reinstate Anti-Lag+ once the issue is resolved.
