One of Android’s biggest trump cards against iOS is the ability to root the phone by unlocking the bootloader. However, Xiaomi is after ending the bootloader unlock setting. In this sense, Xiaomi will change all balances with Hyperos.
Is bootloader unlocking a dream with Xiaomi HyperOS?
Xiaomi has taken a sharp measure for the bootloader lock that makes the Android operating system free. Accordingly, Xiaomi, POCO and Redmi phones that will receive Hyperos update will be excluded from the update if they unlock this lock.
Smartphone manufacturers already exclude the phone from warranty coverage if the bootloader is unlocked. However, this measure seems to be not enough for Xiaomi. According to the emerging information, the Bootloader Unlock setting is disappearing. Xiaomi is trying to make this setting permissible with HyperOS.
Accordingly, Chinese users will now need to request permission via the Xiaomi Community Forum to unlock this setting. It is not clear what kind of application will be for global users.
However, as we said, if Xiaomi Bootloader unlocking is activated and used, the phone will not receive the official HyperOS update. In this sense, Xiaomi is making it very difficult for Android users to root.
Xiaomi initially touted HyperOS as an operating system. However, it later turned out to be its new interface to replace MIUI. What’s different here is that the interface will cover all Xiaomi’s smart devices. In this sense, the company is expected to make HyperOS an independent operating system.
Xiaomi HyperOS will offer more customization on the lock screen with new watch styles, fonts, wallpapers and widgets. The control center will have a cleaner and more modern design compared to the previous version MIUI 14. App icons are similar, but the overall consistency seems to have improved.
Another detail that attracted attention with the new version was the space Xiaomi HyperOS will occupy on phones. According to the Chinese company’s claim, the structure is 8.75 GB in size and provides a serious advantage in storage compared to its competitors.
HyperOS will consume less power compared to its predecessors and will work comfortably on phones with less memory. This means that Xiaomi has left an open door for its older and hardware-deficient products.
