For a while now, we’ve known that discussions have been ongoing between Apple and Google. According to the rumors, while Apple is preparing to release the Gemini AI platform in upcoming iOS updates, the same may not apply to China. Due to restrictions imposed by China on Google services, they cannot be used, and therefore, Apple needs to find an alternative. So, what AI will Apple use? Here are the details…
Apple is preparing to introduce iOS 18 with Baidu AI in China
As is known, the Chinese government prohibits the use of foreign applications by utilizing local platforms. Now, it seems they will apply the same policy to Gemini AI between Apple and Google, forcing Apple to use China’s artificial intelligence. Apple’s latest devices will be launched in the Chinese market with Baidu AI, an alternative to Google’s Gemini AI.
The new upcoming feature is expected to be introduced with iOS 18, which is slated for release in the fall. Additionally, previous reports revealed that Apple had discussions with Alibaba and another unnamed Chinese company regarding extensive language models (LLM).
As a result of the discussions, Baidu’s Ernie Bot was positively received by Apple due to its advanced features, and it is highly likely that the operating system update to be introduced for the Chinese market will be equipped with Baidu AI and Ernie Bot artificial intelligence features.
According to analysts, Apple’s behavior is expected to increase its brand value specifically in China and could serve as a significant advertising opportunity. According to statements made by Baidu CEO Robin Li, the company’s artificial intelligence applications will generate substantial revenue this year, and through collaboration with Apple, Baidu will become even more comprehensive as a company.
