Apple is expanding its work in the field of data center technologies in collaboration with Broadcom. The company’s new server processor, Baltra, will have powerful hardware targeting artificial intelligence applications and high-scale data processing.
Apple and Broadcom are designing processors together
The new processor, developed together with Broadcom, is designed to process requests sent through the Apple Intelligence system. In this way, Baltra will have not only raw CPU power; but also special accelerators optimized for artificial intelligence calculations. It is stated that the processor can be equipped with 2 to 8 times more cores than the current Apple M3 Ultra model.

Apple is testing various configurations on the processor architecture. These structures include special tensor and matrix units, as well as HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) technology, which offers high bandwidth.
Thanks to these components, Baltra is planned to have an expandable, i.e. scalable structure. In this way, a hardware infrastructure that can adapt to data center loads of different sizes will be created.
The Baltra processor, whose development process is ongoing, is planned to be introduced in 2027. It is stated that Apple’s chip work is not limited to the server side only, and that new generation processors are also being worked on for the iPad and Mac series.
