Apple Mail App Updated for iPad and Mac
Apple has finally extended the Mail app update, first introduced on iPhones in December, to iPad and Mac devices. With the new macOS 15.4 and iPadOS 18.4 beta versions, users can now experience a more organized and efficient email experience. The update categorizes emails into four main groups: “Primary,” “Transactions,” “Updates,” and “Promotions.” These categories are designed to help users more easily and quickly distinguish emails in their inbox.

Each category includes different types of content. The “Primary” category contains personal messages and time-sensitive content, while the “Transactions” category groups shopping confirmations, invoices, and shipping notifications. The “Updates” category features newsletters, news, and social media updates. Lastly, the “Promotions” category hosts marketing content related to shopping offers, coupons, and discounts.
Apple also notes that emails with time-sensitive details will always be moved to the “Primary” category. Additionally, when users open emails from a sender, they can view all messages in a ‘digest’ format, which shows all emails together. This feature is especially useful for users who want to see related messages, such as banking alerts, at a glance.
