Toyota, one of the world’s largest car manufacturers, is strengthening its ties with the Apple ecosystem. Although no official announcement has been made yet, updates to Apple’s system infrastructure indicate that Toyota models will soon support the Apple Car Key feature.
Your Phone Will Now Be Your Car Key
While it’s not yet certain when Toyota will activate this feature, the fact that it’s “live” on Apple’s servers is the biggest sign that the wait won’t be long.

In fact, Toyota users are no strangers to digital key technology. The company already has its own Digital Key feature offered as part of its “Remote Connect” package. However, the arrival of Apple Car Key support will make the process much more practical for iPhone and Apple Watch users.
- Digital Wallet Integration: Your car key is stored directly in the Apple Wallet app on your iPhone.
- Easy Access: You can unlock and start the car by simply bringing your iPhone or Apple Watch close to the door handle. Security Options: For added security, you can require Face ID or Touch ID verification, or use “Fast Mode” to get into your car in seconds without any verification.
- Key Sharing: You can temporarily share your car’s digital key with friends or family members via iMessage.
Last June, Apple announced it would be expanding the Car Key feature to several new brands, including Audi, Porsche, GMC, Cadillac, and Rivian. The absence of Toyota from that list made this latest leak a pleasant surprise for the technology and automotive world.
This convenience, already offered by giants like BMW, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes, and Volvo, will soon be available to millions of Toyota users. Everyone is now waiting for the official announcement to see which models and trim levels will offer this feature as standard.
