Apple is continuing its preparations to launch a foldable phone, with rumors suggesting that the company will debut a foldable iPhone in 2026. Earlier reports indicated that Apple had modest sales expectations for this new venture. However, recent claims reveal that the company aims to sell four times more foldable devices than Samsung in its launch year. Here are the details…
Apple Targets 15–20 Million Foldable iPhone Sales
According to sources, the foldable iPhone will feature a “book-style” design similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Production is expected to begin in May 2026, with the device launching in September of the same year.
Samsung initially set a target of selling 10 million foldable devices in 2024 but later revised this goal to 5 million. By contrast, Apple reportedly plans to sell between 15 and 20 million foldable iPhones in its first year—three to four times more than Samsung’s current target. Given that the foldable iPhone is expected to cost $2,000 or more, this is an ambitious goal.
Samsung traditionally unveils its foldable devices in July, giving it an additional two months to capture market share before Apple’s September launch. Critics argue that Apple’s lofty sales target might be unrealistic, especially for a product entering a niche market dominated by Samsung.
