While competition in the smartphone market continues at full speed, striking data for the third quarter of the year has been shared. According to the latest market research, Apple’s popular model, the iPhone 16, has won the title of the world’s best-selling phone. Activity, particularly in the Asian market, formed the basis of this success.
iPhone 16 Becomes World’s Best-Selling Phone
A report published by Counterpoint Research shows that Apple achieved great success during the period covering July and September. Dominating 4% of all global shipments, the iPhone 16 topped the list. Promotions during the festival period in India and the recovery in the Japanese market significantly increased sales of this model.

Not only the base model, but other members of the series also received strong consumer interest. The iPhone 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, and iPhone 16e models took the second, third, and fourth places respectively. This picture is very similar to last year, when the iPhone 15 series dominated the top three spots. Apple is successfully keeping users interested in its high-end models.
Samsung was the only brand other than Apple to make it into the top 10. The South Korean tech giant found its place on the list with its affordable and mid-range models rather than its flagship models. The Galaxy A16 5G came in fifth, and the Galaxy A06 in sixth. These models were followed by the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56, which took seventh and eighth places.
The Galaxy A16 was in ninth place, while an interesting detail stood out in tenth place. Despite being released in late September and only available for a limited time, the iPhone 17 Pro Max managed to enter the list in last place. This proves that demand for new generation devices is also quite high.
