Apple has announced that the Clips app, launched in 2017 for creating quick and fun videos for social media, will no longer be supported. According to the company’s official announcement, the app has been removed from the App Store for new users as of October 10, 2025, and will no longer receive any updates. With this decision, another Apple app has quietly left its place in the tech world.
Clips Removed from the App Store
In its initial release, Clips attracted attention for its features such as easily combining videos and adding music, text, and various filters. In later years, Apple added innovative features such as Augmented Reality (AR) effects. However, the recent decline in interest in the app and the infrequent updates signaled the first signs of Clips’ future.

For existing users, the situation is different for now. If the Clips app is already downloaded to your device, you can continue using it on iOS and iPadOS. Apple even states that users who have previously downloaded the app can re-download it from the App Store’s purchased section. However, Apple doesn’t guarantee that the app will be compatible with future operating system updates.
Due to this uncertainty, Apple is offering important advice to existing Clips users. The company, in a statement on its support page, recommends users save all videos they create, with or without effects, to their Photos library. This way, even if a future OS update prevents the app from working, the videos users have worked so hard to create will be safe.
