Apple is breaking with tradition and departing from its normal product cycle by not releasing a new iPad model in 2023. According to Apple analyst Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the next major iPad refresh will be in the spring of 2024, in line with the company’s timeline. Meanwhile, Apple also surprised users with the sudden launch of the USB-C Apple Pencil.
Expectations are high for Apple’s next iPad models
iPad Pro: This model is about to get its most significant update since its redesign in 2018 and the introduction of the M1 chip in 2021. The high-end tablet is expected to feature an OLED display, host the M3 processor, offer improved camera features and launch a revamped Magic Keyboard accessory. This highly anticipated release has been on the radar for over a year and will likely be announced at the spring 2024 event.
iPad Air: As reported by 9to5Mac, Apple will introduce four Air models, including a larger variant. All versions will feature an LCD display, run on the M2 processor and may include camera improvements. New color options are also on the way.
iPad mini: This compact tablet is expected to get new color options as well as an upgrade to the A16 Bionic processor. While this is expected to be a modest improvement, it is likely to add to the tablet’s appeal.
iPad: Now in its eleventh generation, the standard model is being prepared for a processor upgrade and the potential introduction of new color options. This update is expected to be relatively minor.
Looking beyond the iPad lineup, Apple’s spring event could include announcements about new Mac models, a new iPhone color option, and an Apple Vision Pro release date. As spring approaches, more details are likely to emerge about Apple’s plans for this event. With significant upgrades and additions on the horizon, 2024 promises to be a pivotal year for device enthusiasts.
