Apple has faced legal issues after it failed to deliver some of the Apple Intelligence features it announced with iOS 18 and the iPhone 16 series. The company ran ad campaigns promoting the next-generation of AI-based Siri and other Apple Intelligence features, but did not offer most of these features with the devices. This led to a lawsuit against Apple for misleading consumers.
Apple accused of false AI advertising
The lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court in San Jose alleges that Apple promoted AI features when marketing its new iPhone series, but the devices were released without these features.

The plaintiffs claim that Apple’s advertising created a misleading expectation in consumers that the devices would have AI features at launch. In particular, the fact that features such as personalized Siri, Image Playground and Genmoji were announced but still not available strengthened the company’s claim that it was creating unfair competition and false advertising.
Apple pulled some of the ads and updated the information on its website after consumer backlash. However, this move did not prevent the company from entering into legal proceedings. The Clarkson Law Firm, which filed the lawsuit, had previously sued Google and OpenAI over their AI practices.
It is eagerly awaited how Apple will defend itself against this lawsuit and how the process will affect the company’s marketing policies. So what do you think about this issue? You can share your views with us in the comments section below.
