Despite being highly praised for its capabilities, one of Apple’s innovative products might be quietly removed from its production portfolio. Although expected to revolutionize the tech world with its advanced features, this device failed to meet sales expectations, leading to significant changes in Apple’s production strategies. Here are the details…
Apple Vision Pro bids farewell!
Launched in early 2024, Apple Vision Pro was introduced as the company’s most ambitious step into augmented and virtual reality technologies. However, its steep price of $3,499 and a limited content ecosystem prevented it from reaching a broader audience. Apple’s initial sales target of 700,000 to 800,000 units in the first year fell short, with Vision Pro managing to reach only around 500,000 users.
Reports indicate that in November, Apple instructed its Chinese manufacturing partner Luxshare Precision to scale down and halt Vision Pro production. Production had already been gradually reduced since summer and, by October, only around 1,000 units were being produced daily. However, the production lines have not been completely dismantled, allowing for a potential restart should demand increase.
Despite the low sales figures, Apple has not entirely abandoned the Vision Pro project. The company is reportedly working on a more affordable Vision Pro model.
However, according to analysts, this model’s production timeline has been pushed back to post-2027. In the meantime, the company plans to release an updated version of the current Vision Pro, equipped with the M5 chipset and Apple Intelligence features. This updated model is expected to launch by late 2025 or spring 2026.
How company develops the Vision Pro ecosystem and whether it successfully releases a more affordable model will determine the device’s future. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Apple will consign the Vision Pro to the shelves of history? Share your opinions in the comments!
