Apple’s struggle to stay ahead of its competitors in the AI race is no secret. According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company is testing an internal chatbot app codenamed Veritas to address this gap. This app forms the basis for the anticipated major Siri overhaul. Here are the details.
Veritas: Employee-only ChatGPT experience
The launch of the next-generation Siri has been repeatedly delayed, and even the debut of Apple Intelligence was met with lukewarm market reception. However, Veritas allows Apple engineers to quickly develop, test, and gather feedback on new Siri features, such as the ability to “perform in-app actions like searching personal data and editing photos.”

According to Gurman, Veritas operates similarly to popular chatbot apps like ChatGPT and Gemini. Employees can use this internal bot to write text requests, engage in conversations, and even revisit past conversations to gain deeper insights into a specific topic.
However, at least for now, Apple has no plans to offer this powerful internal chatbot to consumers. While Apple plans to keep its internal chatbot entirely in-house, it has begun seeking external support for its AI-powered search needs. It seems increasingly likely that the company will rely heavily on Google’s Gemini model in this area.
