A significant claim has emerged regarding the long-awaited next-generation Siri. According to reliable source Mark Gurman, Apple will conceal from the public that it has enhanced its assistant with competitor technology. The next-generation Siri will allegedly be powered by a special version of Google’s powerful artificial intelligence model, Apple Siri, based on Google Gemini. However, Apple will refrain from announcing this partnership.
Why Is Apple Hiding Its Siri Improvement with Google Gemini?
According to Mark Gurman’s post, Apple is reluctant to reveal that the AI underlying Siri will be partially based on a competitor’s technology. For this reason, Google’s model is internally known as “AFM v10.” This codename stands for “Version 10 of the Apple Foundation Models.” This secrecy is critical for Apple’s prestige and brand image.
The next-generation Siri will allegedly be powered by a special Google Gemini model with 1.2 trillion parameters. Apple is said to pay Google approximately $1 billion annually for this service. However, Apple aims to replace this model with its own AI model in the future, as it does not want to be permanently dependent on Google.

Besides concealing this partnership, Apple is reportedly taking a significant step towards protecting user privacy. The Google-backed model will be run directly on Apple’s own servers, called “Private Cloud Compute.” This means Google will not have access to Apple user data through this model. This strategy ensures the company maintains its commitment to privacy.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has stated that good progress is being made on the next-generation Siri. The company is testing the new Siri with an app called “Veritas.” This test app allows employees to conduct text conversations, similar to ChatGPT and Gemini. The next-generation Siri is expected to be generally available in March with iOS 26.4. Cook also indicated that they will be adding more third-party AI services to the Apple Intelligence infrastructure.
