Apple made a statement on the Apple Music service and shared the most popular songs of 2022. Apple Music also unveiled end-of-year lists highlighting the most popular songs of 2022. Together with the most searched content on Shazam, the most popular fitness songs, and the most read lyrics. As music fans dig deeper into the rankings, they’ll notice the growing presence of songs in languages other than English. Also, the rise of different genres, and the exciting success of first-time artists as well.
Let’s take a look at Apple Music’s ranking lists
Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber closed out the year at #1 on the Most Popular Songs of 2022 with their collaboration “STAY”. Released in the summer of 2021, “STAY” topped the Daily Top 100: Global list for 51 days. The song remained there throughout 2022. “STAY”, which has remained on the Daily Top 100: Global list since the first day of its release reached No. 1 on the Daily Top 100 list in 69 countries and regions around the world.
Hip-Hop maintained its lead on the Most Popular Songs list, with 32 of the 100 most popular songs of the year being in the Hip-Hop genre. Hip-Hop is followed by Pop with 23 songs and R&B/Soul with 11 songs. In fourth place is Latin with eight songs and in fifth place is J-Pop with six songs.
The Most Read Lyrics list shows quite different results. The number one song on this list is “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”, which was featured on the soundtrack of the Disney-produced Encanto. Also, in the lyrics list, 29 out of 100 songs are in a language other than English.
Oliver Schusser, Apple’s Vice President of Apple Music and Beats, said: “The music we listen to throughout the year is like a movie soundtrack. It’s fun to be able to go back and relive those meaningful and memorable moments.”
