Apple’s foldable iPhone plans are finally becoming concrete. The tech giant is reportedly in talks with various suppliers for ultra-thin glass. According to industry sources, Chinese manufacturer Lens Technology is set to become the main supplier for Apple’s foldable devices.
Ultra-thin glass negotiations for foldable iPhone have begun
According to reports from China, Lens Technology will meet approximately 70 percent of Apple’s ultra-thin glass orders. Corning, known for its Gorilla Glass, will most likely provide the raw material supply for this production.
It was reported that Lens Technology has demonstrated various advantages in terms of mass production success and financial resources in ultra-thin glass production. It was stated that the company is particularly successful in strengthening glass and minimizing side cracks after cutting.
According to the report, the supplier company expects Apple’s first foldable iPhone model to be released in the second half of 2026. Therefore, glass production will expand in 2025. Apple’s design approach is focused on thinning only the middle part of the glass, thus increasing the overall thickness and durability.
It is also among the claims that Samsung Display may be the sole supplier of the foldable panel for the first foldable model. Apple analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Jeff Pu said that the launch date could be late 2026 or early 2027.
