Meta is taking its goals for augmented reality (AR) glasses one step further. The new AR glasses, called Meta Orion, draw attention with similar features to Apple Vision Pro. However, it arouses curiosity with being much lighter and more stylish. So what do Orion glasses promise?
What are Meta Orion features?
Orion has a screen that allows users to see other people’s faces. This feature means it is different from existing XR glasses. Glasses like Vision Pro usually cover most of the wearer’s face.
Holographic displays built into the frames of the glasses can project virtual screens, merging digital content with the real world. According to Meta, the glasses feature the largest field of view ever achieved in any AR glasses design.
Orion’s first demo tests showcased smart assistant functionality and AR communication experiences. Orion, which creates virtual screens through glasses, will support many applications from gaming to office tools.
Orion, which is still in the prototype stage, is Meta’s most advanced AR hardware to date. In this context, it was also stated that it could be launched as a product that appeals to the end user. However, Meta emphasized that it will not rush to market.
