Apple will announce the Watch Series 9 models along with the iPhone 15 series next month. New claims suggest that the company is making a series of changes to the Watch band design. The main change is a woven fabric and a buckle design.
Will the Apple Watch Series 9 band be magnetic?
No major design changes are expected for the Watch Series 9, but Apple appears to be rethinking the band. The company wants the bands to be adjustable with the watch. Accordingly, the new band will be woven fabric with a magnetic buckle closure.
This change by Apple will make it possible for users to take different bands and customize them. So predetermined band sizes like Solo Loop and Braided Solo Loop will be a thing of the past. The new band may be similar to the style Apple already offers, but will come with a magnetic clasp to adjust to the wrist.
The image shared in the Twitter leak shows a band with a woven fabric pattern and a metal buckle. The attachment mechanism to the Apple Watch body appears to use standard, pinned lugs.
The rumored new band could be an affordable alternative to the $149 Leather Link option. It could also bring a new look to the Watch lineup, which hasn’t seen a major design change since the introduction of the Solo Loop in 2020.
In addition to the new band, Apple is also rumored to be working on an affordable Watch SE 3 model. The smartwatch, which is expected to be price/performance oriented, may be unveiled at the September launch.
