Apple is working on camera and artificial intelligence integration for the next generation Apple Watch models. According to the information shared by Mark Gurman, the new Apple Watch models expected to be released in 2027 will have a camera that supports advanced Apple Intelligence features.
Apple Watch with camera may come
According to Gurman, Apple plans to place the camera inside the display on standard Apple Watch models. In the Ultra model, the camera will be positioned next to the side button. This innovation will enable Apple Watch to detect its surroundings and provide instant information to users with artificial intelligence support.

Apple’s artificial intelligence-based Visual Intelligence technology was introduced with the iPhone 16 series and was introduced to iPhone 18.4 Pro models with the iOS 15 update. This technology allows iPhone to quickly perform many operations such as obtaining information about a place through the camera, translating foreign language texts, and recognising plants and animals.
Integrating a similar system into the Apple Watch will allow the device to independently process environmental information and respond to users instantly. It is stated that the company plans to add small cameras to AirPods models, not limited to Apple Watch.
Cameras to be integrated into AirPods can increase AI-based interactions and increase Apple’s competitiveness with other AI-supported wearable devices in the market.
