Apple has made significant progress in reducing its dependence on external suppliers. As part of its independence strategy, the company is preparing to come up with its own Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip. So which models will the new chip be used in? Details are in our news…
Apple is developing a new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip: Proxima chip coming in 2025
The new chip, which we know under the code name “Proxima” for now, will be used in iPhone 17, Apple TV and HomePod Mini models starting from 2025. By 2026, it will also be included in iPad and Mac models. In addition, the Proxima chip will be produced by TSMC, Apple’s longtime partner in chip production. So what exactly does the new chip do?

Actually, the goal of this technology is to optimize the energy consumption of devices to increase battery life during Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and cellular connections. Apple’s long-term plan is to combine this chip with the 5G modem it is developing into a single wireless component. This will pave the way for thinner and lighter devices and allow for greater design flexibility in wearable technology.
Apple is also working on a new chip for cloud-based artificial intelligence systems. This chip, codenamed Baltra, will be used in data centers by 2026. With this chip, Apple plans to increase its AI capabilities and even make services like Siri more advanced and conversational.
In short, we can say that Apple wants to offer its consumers directly its own hardware, leaving aside its dependence on large suppliers such as Broadcom. What do you think about this? What impact do you think Apple’s development of its own chips will have on device performance and user experience? You can write your opinions in the comments section below.
