Apple’s first mixed reality glasses, Vision Pro, which it unveiled in recent weeks, have made a worldwide impact. The glasses, which achieved a successful sales graph in its first week, seems to have caught Apple’s expectations. Recent reports showed that the Apple Vision Pro 2 model will be closer than expected.
Apple Vision Pro 2 may be released in 18 months
According to a report by Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman, the Vision Pro 2 will be released in late 2025, 18 months after its initial introduction. Apple is expected to address the major weight and battery issues.
Gurman reported that the development of the next Vision Pro will be finalized at least 18 months later. The analyst noted that Apple is scrutinizing its first Vision Pro customers. He also said it will get feedback from users who return their glasses.
The long development time is at odds with the annual updates of the iPhone and Apple Watch. But Apple has no plans to release Vision Pro every year. Instead, the company wants to follow a similar cycle to the iPad, refreshing the XR glasses every 2-3 years.
Previously, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Vision Pro 2 will be released in 2027. That would mean a gap of up to 54 months between it and the first model. Gurman, however, estimates that it will be around 18 months.
Meanwhile, rumors also indicated that Apple wants to offer an affordable pair of glasses in 2025. Let’s see how Apple will proceed in the coming period.
