Tech giant Apple is reportedly counting down the days to begin mass production of its brand new Apple foldable iPhone and the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series. According to the latest industry leaks, both flagship models are scheduled to hit the official production lines in July, setting the stage for a major launch event later in the year.
Apple Foldable iPhone and iPhone 18 Set for Joint Launch
Information from supply chain sources suggests the company is planning a significant surprise for its traditional September launch event. For the first time in its history, Apple will showcase a foldable smartphone with a new form factor on the same stage as its standard flagship models. Furthermore, this strategic timing is designed to preemptively address any potential supply issues or production delays, ensuring a smoother rollout for both product lines.
One of the most significant challenges in the manufacturing process, the issue of a visible crease on the folding screen, appears to have been overcome. The company has been successfully testing various thicknesses of Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) technology to eliminate this common problem. As a result, tech enthusiasts can look forward to a completely smooth and durable foldable display experience.
New A20 Chips Pose Production Hurdles
The design of the standard flagship models is expected to bear a strong resemblance to the previous generation, which helps to alleviate some of the production pressure on the company. However, the main difficulty arises in the manufacturing process for the next-generation A20 and A20 Pro processors. Although Apple has secured more than half of TSMC’s 2-nanometer production capacity, it is still facing the risk of significant chip supply problems due to increasing global demand.
