Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft’s most popular and beloved (and sometimes hated) series, was revitalized in a major event last year. In this event, it was announced that not only new games but also some tweaks would be made to old games.
Development that strengthens the rumor of an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake: Removed from Steam
It would be no exaggeration to say that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is the most beloved game in the series. Almost everyone loves this game, and it holds the position of the first game in the series deserving a remake version.
Therefore, when the word “remake” was mentioned before, Black Flag was the first Assassin’s Creed game that came to people’s minds. This is not surprising because Black Flag was so well-loved in its time that Ubisoft had announced and started developing the pirate-themed Skull & Bones game.
However, as you know, the development of that game turned into a complete mess. Now, the removal of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag from Steam has fueled these rumors considerably. The game was suddenly removed from sale without any apparent reason.
The first thing that comes to mind as a reason is that a remake of the game is in the works, but this might not be the only reason; there are a few more possibilities.
One of them is that Ubisoft might be trying to fix the game. With the update released for AC games in August, Black Flag, which already had a lot of issues in its PC port, became even more problematic. Therefore, it is believed that the company is putting the game under maintenance.
Another reason is the aforementioned Skull & Bones. Ubisoft is finally ready to release this chaotic and long-delayed game, and to avoid undermining its marketing strategy, they removed another pirate-themed game from the platform.
By the way, let’s also mention that the game is still available in Xbox and PlayStation stores. It has only been removed from Steam and Ubisoft Connect stores. Therefore, the strongest possibility is that a remake is coming for the game.
You can still access the removed Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Steam page here. When we take a look at the bundles that include the game, we can see that it is not included.
So, in your opinion, which of the reasons mentioned above could be the cause of the removal of the game from Steam and Ubisoft stores? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments.
