The first official trailer for Ubisoft’s highly anticipated new game Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been released! In the trailer, we see the two playable main characters and Feudal Japan. Let’s take a look together.
4-minute Assassin’s Creed Shadows trailer shows a bloody game
One of the characters introduced in the trailer is Yasuke, the first black Samurai in recorded Japanese history. A protégé of Oda Nobunaga, Yasuke’s inclusion in the game is significant as it illuminates an aspect of Japanese history that is often overlooked.
At Yasuke’s side is Naoe, a more traditional Japanese and, of course, an assassin. The two find themselves embroiled in a deep and complex story in Feudal Japan, where conflict and intrigue abound.
The period in which Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set is quite impressive. From what we can see in the trailer, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will take place on a Kansai themed map. As Yasuke and Naoe face off against the Templars, players will be drawn into a story centered on the complexities of trust, betrayal and loyalty.
What makes Assassin’s Creed Shadows different is its focus on the relationship between Yasuke and Naoe. Though initially rivals, the two characters are forced to learn to trust each other as they come together against a common enemy. Yasuke’s journey, in particular, is profound as he discovers how to navigate a world quite different from his own.
The release date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows was accidentally leaked by Ubisoft earlier in the week, but has now been confirmed by the new trailer: November 15, 2024. It’s worth noting that the game is being developed by the same team that developed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
Apart from the trailer, Ubisoft also shared a separate trailer introducing the characters. You can watch it above if you wish. What do you think? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
