Asus has entered the portable gaming console market with the ROG Ally, following brands like Valve, AyaNeo, and Logitech. This device boasts several features not found in the Steam Deck, including a 120 Hz refresh rate and the world’s fastest APU. Here are the specs of the Asus ROG Ally…
Asus ROG Ally specs
The ROG Ally claims to be the most powerful portable gaming console on the market. It features a 1920×1080 (FHD) display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, in contrast to the 1280×800 (HD+) and 60 Hz refresh rate of the Steam Deck. Additionally, Asus claims to have used the world’s most powerful APU in this device, likely a 7th generation Ryzen chip, though details on the chip are not yet available.
The design of the ROG Ally also offers improvements, with a smaller and thinner form factor than the Steam Deck, despite having the same 7-inch screen size. The device also boasts an advanced dual-fan cooling system. However, as with graphics cards, the fans may operate quietly or not at all under light loads.
Finally, a lesser-known but important detail is that Asus introduced external graphics cards that work with their laptops in previous years. You can connect the new portable gaming console to these devices for high-resolution gameplay of AAA-quality games, as well as to mirror the device onto a TV or to charge the device.
