Audi is putting its new plan into action to increase competition in the electric vehicle market and revive its sales. While demand for Audi’s electric vehicles decreased by 8% in 2024, the company has revised its strategy in response to this situation.
Audi will come out with affordable electric models
Audi, which set its goal of completely switching to electric cars as 2032, focused on launching more affordable electric models to achieve this goal. Company CEO Gernot Döllner confirmed that they are developing a fully electric model in the A3 segment.

The release date of this model, which was previously planned to be offered for sale in 2027, has been brought forward to 2026. Although the details of the new model have not yet been announced, it has been confirmed that the vehicle will be produced in the Ingolstadt factory.
Considering the release date and segment features, it is considered that Audi may develop this model based on the Volkswagen ID.2all concept. It is known that Volkswagen will launch the ID.2 model in 2026 with a price tag of approximately 25 thousand euros.
The possibility of the new model being based on the electric Golf is quite low. The electric Golf is expected to be developed in collaboration with Rivian and produced on the new SSP platform and to be launched in 2029 at the earliest.
Audi’s new affordable model could share the same platform as options such as the ID.2 and ID.1, which use the MEB Small platform. With this move, the company aims to provide a solution to the accessibility problem in the electric vehicle market and expand its customer base.
