While the mobile gaming industry is rapidly growing, smartphones have become gaming devices. Backbone One, known for its console-like controllers, has announced its PlayStation Edition controller. The new gadget, previously introduced only for iPhones last year, has expanded its compatibility to Android users.
Backbone One – PlayStation Edition price and features
The PlayStation Edition for Android features a design inspired by the DualSense controller. The accessory follows the classic white and black color scheme and has the same buttons as the DualSense. Although the joystick layout is slightly different from the DualSense, the overall design was developed for mobile gaming.
According to the description provided by Backbone One, the controller does not have a separate battery. It draws power from the smartphone, promising a lighter usage experience during gameplay. However, if desired, users can charge their smartphones while using the PlayStation Edition.
Additionally, the controller includes a headphone jack. This allows phones without a headphone jack to use wired headphones. Moreover, using the controller does not block the phone’s audio jack.
The PlayStation Edition is not limited to specific platforms or game genres. It supports all games available on Android and iOS, providing an enhanced gaming experience. However, the company claims to have optimization for games like PUBG Mobile and Asphalt.
Another notable feature of the PlayStation Edition is its compatibility with PlayStation 4 and 5 games through Remote Play. Users can directly stream PlayStation games to their Android phones using Remote Play.
While the iPhone controller is priced at $95, the price for the Android version has not been announced. However, it was mentioned that users will receive a one-month Google Play Pass subscription.
