As you may recall, we recently shared the latest rumors and leaks about the OnePlus Open 2. It was reported that the device is currently in the testing phase, featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and introducing wireless charging, which wasn’t available in the original OnePlus Open. Despite these promising developments, there’s disappointing news about the device’s release timeline. Here are the details you need to know:
OnePlus Open 2 Delayed to the Second Half of 2025
Renowned tech analyst Sanju Choudhary recently claimed that the release date for the OnePlus Open 2 has been postponed to the second half of 2025. Previously, the device was expected to be unveiled in the first quarter of 2025. However, with this new update, it seems users will need to exercise a bit more patience.
Although no official reason has been given for the delay, it’s well-known that developing foldable phones is a highly complex process. Key challenges likely involve design intricacies, hinge mechanisms, and water resistance features, all of which are thought to play a significant role in this delay.
The OnePlus Open 2 is rumored to come with significant upgrades in terms of cameras and internal components. The device is also expected to feature the largest battery ever seen in a foldable phone while being slimmer and more water-resistant than its predecessor.
The previous model, the OnePlus Open, was praised for its design and camera performance, setting high expectations for the next iteration. While waiting for the Open 2, OnePlus is set to launch the OnePlus 13 and 13R models in January. Perhaps during this event, we may see a teaser or receive an announcement regarding the Open 2’s release.
