DICE has laid out sweeping updates for Battlefield 6 following its open beta, promising tweaks to movement, weapons, maps, and game modes. The studio says the changes are built directly on player feedback and in game data, with the goal of restoring a more classic Battlefield rhythm.
Battlefield 6 movement changes incoming
One of the loudest complaints in the beta was around movement mechanics. DICE confirmed that slide and jump behavior is being reworked to prevent spam tactics. Horizontal speed from slides into jumps has been reduced, and consecutive jumps now lower in height. Shooting while sliding or jumping will also be less accurate.
The developers say these adjustments are meant to make sliding and jumping situational tools rather than the dominant way to engage in firefights. Parachute physics are also being tuned, with less acceleration when opening for steadier mid air control.
Larger maps and fan favorite returns
The beta focused on smaller, faster maps, but DICE says large scale battlefields are on the way. Two new maps will debut in Battlefield Labs, the testing program for selected players. One is Mirak Valley, while the other is a remake of the fan favorite Battlefield 3 map Operation Firestorm. Both will include vehicles and bigger combat zones, echoing the franchise’s large scale roots.
Rush mode adjustments
Rush mode drew heavy criticism in the beta, not just for player counts but for how the maps played. DICE admitted that higher player counts in Rush often caused unbalanced defenses, stalled objectives, and rushed matches that ended in the first sector.
Going forward, default Rush player counts will be lowered to emphasize tactical pacing. Smaller setups like 8v8 are being prioritized for modes such as Team Death Match, Squad Death Match, Domination, and KOTH. Players who want large scale Rush will still have options in Portal mode at launch.
- Slide jump spam reduced with slower horizontal speed
- Firing mid jump or slide less accurate
- Parachute physics re tuned for smoother drops
- Mirak Valley and Operation Firestorm maps arriving in Battlefield Labs
- Rush mode rebalanced with smaller player counts
What’s next before Battlefield 6 launch
DICE promises to keep fine tuning Battlefield 6 in upcoming Battlefield Labs events, introducing adjustments based on further feedback. The studio thanked players for the 30 million hours logged during the beta and said their input is directly shaping the final game.
Battlefield 6 launches October 7, with EA rolling out a “Road to Battlefield 6” pass in Battlefield 2042 that includes legacy rewards, a reimagined Iwo Jima map, and 50 cross game unlocks ready for day one.
