Electronic Arts’ next-generation FPS, Battlefield 6, has become the most popular game in the series even before its release. The open beta, which began on August 7th, reached 334,549 concurrent players on Steam on its first day, doubling Battlefield 2042’s 2021 open beta record in just a few hours.
Battlefield 6 achieves record player count
According to SteamDB data, this figure demonstrates that Battlefield 6 has become one of the most notable multiplayer games not only in the series but also on the platform itself. The concurrent player count reached during the game’s early access phase not only tripled 2042’s beta but also tripled its maximum player count during its full release.

This surge has placed the game 38th on the list of most popular games on Steam, despite not yet being released. Battlefield 6 has achieved remarkable success, surpassing high-profile titles like Elden Ring: Nightreign, Starfield, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. It also became the first modern Battlefield game to achieve this level.
The game’s open beta, available to all players, ran from August 9-10. Due to strong demand, a second beta was scheduled. This second phase, scheduled for August 14-17, is expected to include more extensive stress testing of the servers.
Battlefield 6 will be released on October 10, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Player interest generated during the open beta has significantly increased expectations for the game’s performance in the full release.
