Huawei is preparing to rival Android and iOS with its HarmonyOS Next operating system. HarmonyOS, which currently uses Android infrastructure, will become completely independent with the new version. The new developer version of HarmonyOS Next revealed the interface design.
How will HarmonyOS Next look like?
New leaks from China have revealed the second developer preview of Next. The features and improvements that will be offered with this version have also been revealed. Huawei has not yet shared the release date for this update, but it seems to offer many innovations.
According to the leak, Next will offer much smoother transitions. This means it will have significantly better animation effects compared to Android. Developer options are also said to surpass Android in several ways.
Huawei cannot get Google and Android licenses because of the US embargo. But the HarmonyOS and EMIU systems already on the market are based on Android open source code. Next was developed from scratch independently of Android.
This update, which will be the company’s next-generation operating system, will represent a first with its complete independence from Android. This also means that Android compatibility will end.
The leak claimed that it will also stand out with its artificial intelligence features. However, the second developer preview doesn’t include any details about AI.
On the other hand, Huawei will offer users free cloud support for updates from HarmonyOS 4.2 to Next. This feature will allow users to back up all their data to the cloud during the upgrade.
