Midjourney, the company at the center of the artificial intelligence fraud case involving former US President Donald Trump appearing to be arrested, is rumored to completely ban the use of images of Biden and Trump, among other political content, on its artificial intelligence platform during the upcoming election season.
Not the first artificial intelligence fraud!
As the US enters the election season, many instances of artificial intelligence fraud have already occurred. For example, in a recent incident, the voice of President Joe Biden was imitated via deep fake to persuade some Democratic voters not to go to the polls.
Midjourney CEO David Holz argued that while political content receives high ratings, it poses a significant risk in the current conditions of the country, and if precautions are not taken, this risk could lead the company to bankruptcy. The artificial intelligence company faced intense criticism, especially after the spread of fake Trump images.
While Midjourney has prohibited the production of fake images of famous personalities through artificial intelligence in its user agreement, preventing this could be much more challenging than it seems. However, Midjourney is just one of the major artificial intelligence companies producing tools that could be misused. Especially, the potential impact of deep fake technology on upcoming American elections has raised concerns.
