Blizzard Entertainment, developer of franchises such as Overwatch, World of Warcraft and Diablo, is focusing on creating a new open-world shooter. The company is currently looking for a key leader to drive strategic innovation for this project.
A new job posting reveals what Blizzard is doing with its next-generation shooter. Titled Director of Innovative Design, the ad says the manager will be “the visionary and responsible for key strategic innovations.”

Activision Blizzard, which was acquired by Microsoft two years ago, is back on the agenda with layoffs.
This is actually not the first time Blizzard has tried to enter the open world shooter space. The canceled Project Titan was designed as a massively multiplayer shooter that eventually evolved into Overwatch. More recently, a survival game codenamed Odyssey was also canceled by parent company Microsoft.
But Blizzard seems determined to make the game this time around. The announcement also revealed that the studio fosters an environment open to innovation. As the gaming industry continues to evolve, the demand for new, boundary-pushing experiences has never been higher.
