Bluetooth, one of the most widely used standards among wireless communication technologies, is entering a new phase. Following the Bluetooth 5.x series, which has been in use for a long time, Bluetooth 6.0 will be released in 2025.
Bluetooth 6.0 technology will be introduced
The new version comes with many innovations that significantly reduce latency, significantly increase sound quality and make location tracking between devices more precise. Bluetooth 6.0, which will first be available on the iPhone 17 and Pixel 10 models, will be used in a wide range of devices, especially headphones.

One of the most striking innovations of Bluetooth 6.0 will be the low latency performance provided by the technology called Isochronous Adaptation Layer (ISOAL). This system divides large data frames into small packets and provides simultaneous transmission.
Audio latency, which is a critical problem especially in gaming headsets, drops below 20 milliseconds. A delay at this level corresponds to the performance achieved with traditional 2.4 GHz wireless connections.
Another important technology in the new version is LC3Plus codec support. This codec allows high-resolution audio transmission over Bluetooth at 96 kHz frequency and 32-bit depth. Moreover, this high quality is provided with only 7 milliseconds of delay.
Another innovation that comes with Bluetooth 6.0 is Channel Sounding technology. This system provides up to 10 centimeters of accuracy when determining locations between devices. The most striking aspect is that this high sensitivity does not require any special hardware.
With this feature, location-based services are expected to become widespread. Location tracking, which brands such as Apple and Samsung offer with UWB technology in some of their accessories, will reach a wider user base with Bluetooth 6.0. It is stated that the same system can also be used in areas such as physical security systems.
The new version also includes some important improvements in terms of connection management. Connection matches become faster thanks to Decision-Based Advertising Filtering (DBAF) technology. This system separates broadcast traffic into two different channels, allowing devices to recognize each other more easily. In addition, a new feature called Monitoring Advertisers prevents devices out of range from searching for connections unnecessarily.
Bluetooth 6.0 will first be confirmed to be available on the iPhone 17 and Pixel 10 models in 2025. However, it is expected to take a few years for the technology to become widespread. Most current devices still use versions such as Bluetooth 5.2 or 5.1.
