BMW is taking electric car transformation very seriously. In this direction, the company started to develop new performance series cars with fully electric infrastructure. Today, it is said that the tests of new prototypes have started.
BMW opens a new door to the electric car market!
The new electric car models developed by BMW bring many innovations. According to the company, the new prototypes are very promising. Inside the car are four electric motors and related with this, new driving dynamics, control system, and a completely changed experience.
The new all-wheel drive system, which comes with four new electric motors, recreates the characteristics of BMW’s performance series. The company’s main goal here is to combine the sharp dynamics, agility, and precision that BMW offers customers in the M-series with the power of electricity.
Moreover, these prototypes and models on sale have a low fuel consumption rate. In fact, when we look at the announced data, we saw that the BMW i4 M50 consumes between 12 and 22.5 kWh per 100 km. The BMW ix M60 has a consumption of 21.9 to 24.5 kWh per 100 km.
For this reason, we can say that the range of the new models will be 400+ km or even 500+ km. Of course, we cannot include some new models such as the i7 M70 in the list. Because this car might make performance enthusiasts crazy. So no matter how much fuel it consumes, it will be less than expected.
Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW M GmbH Franciscus van Meel said:
On our anniversary, we are not only looking back, but above all also looking forward. Before the end of the year, production of the BMW XM, our first high-performance car featuring a V8 M hybrid drive, will commence.
Together with our fans all over the world, we are also looking forward to our entry into the LMDh category of the North American IMSA endurance racing series, in which we will also be competing with an eight-cylinder hybrid turbo engine in Daytona and at other events in 2023, as well as in the WEC racing series at Le Mans a year later.
