Boeing has taken a revolutionary step in pilot training by integrating Microsoft Flight Simulator into its program. The company has introduced this new training platform, powered by Microsoft Azure cloud technology, as the Virtual Airplane Procedures Trainer (VAPT).
Boeing Pilot Training is Transforming with the VAPT Platform
This new platform aims to provide both new and experienced pilots with a more flexible and realistic training process. The detailed simulation capabilities offered by Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be used to provide pilots with a highly realistic flight experience.

The platform is initially optimized for the Boeing 737 MAX. With its global digital twin imagery, satellite data, and realistic physics engine, the simulation stands out as a powerful training tool. This step by Boeing is considered a highly anticipated development in the industry.
Pilots will not need a high-performance computer to use this training. Because the system runs on the Microsoft Azure cloud, users can participate in training from iPads, laptops, or desktop devices. Instructors will also be able to create custom lesson content using the platform’s tools.
Boeing Global Services CEO Chris Raymond stated that this software will significantly impact how and when pilots and operators train. Training won’t always be a full flight simulation; it will sometimes include short tasks like interacting with an aircraft’s Control Display Unit (CDU).
